Last year I built a barn out of full dimensional timbers. The roof is a simple 7/8" corrugated over purlins with no moisture barrier. The underside collects moisture and drips! I'm thinking of…Continue

Best Insulation For Older Building With Potential Moisture

Started this discussion. Last reply by Roy L. Miller Mar 27, 2014. 8 Replies

I have an older redwood sided home that has the siding nailed directly onto the framing. There's a layer of felt paper over the framing, but it hardly qualifies as a "moisture barrier" by our modern…Continue

Wooden Plugs For 2" Insulation Holes

Our operation, Rising Sun Energy Services, insulates a lot of walls using cellulose blown in through 2" holes. As simple as a tapered 2" plug might be, we've been having a very hard time sourcing a…Continue

Condensation Quick Fix

Last year I built a barn out of full dimensional timbers. The roof is a simple 7/8" corrugated over purlins with no moisture barrier. The underside collects moisture and drips! I'm thinking of attaching rigid foam insulation to the underside of the purlins and keeping the gap on the upper side of the rafters so that moisture can dry. Any suggestions?See More
