Design Charrettes are basically meetings or collaborative sessions in which a select group is focused on improving the outcome on a project or projects, such as a zero-energy building or sustainable multi-family projects.
One definition of a design charrette or 'charrette' can be found on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charrette
Design charrettes are extremely useful when planning, constructing and/or commissioning an advanced building project of any size and are encouraged by green programs such as LEED for Homes and the Natl Green Building Standard.
Energy auditors, raters and other building professionals are sometimes expected to have answers for topics that may be difficult or complicated to explain or go beyond the training and/or experience of the building pro.
By scheduling and performing a design charrette building pros can call upon others having the appropriate skills or expertise to help answer the questions that often arise during a project's design, implementation or testing phases.
Larger architectural, engineering and other professional firms have utilized design charrettes for years with great success for their building projects and there are many good reasons why building pros should take advantage of them as well.
Information related to past, current and future design charrettes will be posted here so please come back often.
