'Classic' discussion from HP Forum Archives: A deep dive into the merits and pitfalls of energy modeling

Those of you who have followed this forum for at least two years may recall the merger between Home Energy Pros and the Home Performance Forum. For the benefit of those who weren't around then (or weren't paying attention): the Home Performance Forum was a spin-off from the now-defunct LinkedIn group: "RESNET BPI - Energy Audit and Home Performance", which I 'owned' and moderated from 2009 to 2017.

Due to a rash of detrimental changes LinkedIn made to its Groups platform, we moved the RESNET BPI group to a stand-alone site, rebranded as the Home Performance Forum and sponsored by the Home Performance Coalition. That was in March 2017. The biggest challenge was transferring past group discussions to the new forum. Ultimately we were able to capture and import around 1,600 discussion threads consisting of around 22,000 comments.

Later that year (October 2017), the Home Performance Coalition assumed responsibility for Home Energy Pros from LBNL after financial support from the Department of Energy dried up.  So we decided to merge the two forums into a newly branded Home Energy Pros Forum.

The RESNET BPI group archives plus discussions started in the Home Performance Forum now reside in the Home Performance Archives section of this site (see HP Forum Archives tab on the menu bar, above). I encourage everyone to take advantage of the powerful Advanced Search engine on the archives site to peruse the rich content that spans nearly a decade.  Just about any topic you can imagine related to home performance is just a few mouse clicks away!

To whet your appetite, here's a classic oldie where folks debate the merits and pitfalls of energy modeling: Green Jobs Green New York off to a slow start. Enjoy!
