MEEA has scheduled a Level I Building Operator Certification (BOC) training in partnership with the City of Aurora, IL to begin in August. The City of Aurora will utilize funding from the federal Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grants (EECBG) to cover tuition rebates for operations and maintenance staff who work for a business in Aurora or are current residents of the city. The funding will cover the full tuition cost of $1,250 for program participants who successfully complete all the requirements to earn the BOC credential.

MEEA is thrilled to offer the opportunity for training at a reduced cost to the city of Aurora as tuition costs have historically been a barrier to BOC program attendance in the area.  Aurora is the second-largest city in Illinois with approximately 198,000 residents and a large business and manufacturing community including the Hollywood Casino, Caterpillar, Rush-Copley Medical Center, and the Paramount Theater.  The training begins August 10th and will be held at the new Aurora Police Headquarters Training Center in downtown Aurora, one of the most energy efficient sustainable police campuses in the Midwest.

Additional BOC trainings are scheduled to begin throughout the Midwest this fall and the full schedule can be viewed at www.boccentral.org.  To learn more about the BOC program or to register, contact Eric Roach at eroach@mwalliance.org or 312-784-7277. Illinois residents interested in the BOC training that do not qualify for the City of Aurora rebate may qualify for a rebate offered through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
