Lending Center offers renovation financing for homes and businesses

For Minnesota’s business, home, and property owners looking to improve efficiency and comfort, CEE’s Lending Center could be a valuable resource.

The Lending Center offers easy access, low-interest financing for both energy efficiency upgrades and basic home improvement projects — helping you to renovate and cut back on energy use without breaking the bank. Aligned with CEE’s nonprofit mission to strengthen communities through energy conservation, we provide lending support through local utilities, partner cities and counties, and the Minnesota Housing Fix-Up program.

So, if you’ve noticed your electricity bills are a lot higher than you’d like, or if you’re simply looking to make your home more visually appealing and comfortable, CEE’s Lending Center likely has some solid options worth considering.

Residential loan programs

Minnesota residents can take advantage of low-interest loans, secured and unsecured, to install energy efficiency improvements, solar panels, or other upgrades to save energy and money:

  • Home Improvement Loan Program provides loan financing for homeowners in Minnesota who need funding for interior or exterior improvements to their home.
  • Home Energy Loan Program offers financing for upgrades that prevent energy waste and support efficiency by removing cost barriers. (This program is a partnership with the Minnesota Department of Commerce, Division of Energy Resources, and Minnesota Housing Finance Agency.)
  • Unsecured Loan Program is intended to help preserve existing housing in Minnesota by providing access to funding.
  • CEE’s Solar Financing Program helps Minnesota homeowners “go solar” and make their home more energy efficient, while cutting electricity use and environmental harm.

“The Lending Center aims to make it easier for people to complete their projects all around the state,” says Ashley Robertson, assistant marketing manager at CEE. “We partner with cities, counties, utilities, and neighborhoods to offer specialized financing programs throughout Minnesota.”

Business loan programs and the rental loan program

You don’t need to be a homeowner to reap the benefits of the Lending Center.

Minnesota businesses and nonprofits can also receive funding for energy efficiency upgrades, such as lighting and solar, with financing from the Commercial Energy Efficiency Loan Program. Rental property owners, through the Rental Loan Program, can get financing of up to $20,000. Funds can be used to purchase a brand new furnace, install energy efficient heating and cooling systems, or insulation that prevents air leakage.

Robertson emphasizes, “Whether you’re thinking of updating your office’s lighting, adding solar, or renovating a bathroom at home, we’ve helped many happy clients to complete projects just like yours, successfully and on budget.”

With these and other low-interest financing options offered by the Lending Center, your home or property can be both beautiful and more energy efficient, without costing you a fortune.
