Is it Difficult to Find Energy Rebates & Incentives?

Nobody is going to just give you free money for helping their cause, right? Well, when it involves energy, there are ways for you to get some money back!

The Challenge

A little research online these days can go a long way, but many people don't make the time. To them I say, "don't be scared, Google, Bing or Yahoo! won't return results that say, 'no'". You can find anything online today with a little work; rebate and incentives you will find. But, if its so easy to find them from a search engine, the bigger challenge is navigating through a large website like DSIRE or through our utilities website like P&G just to find something that makes the process seem less overwhelming. If you're a parent or have lots of other responsibilities and don't have a personal assistant or someone who can do all this research and paperwork for you, sadly, you are on your own.

To help you, I've created a list of links to help you get started. I'm not going to do all the work for you just so you can get your money back after all, this is life and you will have to do some of the heavy lifting yourself.

Lighting

DSIRE

DSIRE is the most comprehensive source of information on incentives and policies that support renewables and energy efficiency in the United States. Start by selecting your state and review the list of financial incentives available to you.

Energy Star

ENERGY STAR is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency voluntary program that helps businesses and individuals save money and protect our climate through superior energy efficiency. They have a section on their website that allows you to search and find builders and incentives.

Sources

I found many of these links by searching Google, but I found LED Lighting Rebates and they provide a wealth of links, information and a blog about the LED industry in US and Canada.

I will be updating this post gradually over time as I hope this can help lots of people out there.
