"It’s a strong move for both companies and it’s a stronger mover for the industry as a whole.”

That coming from the EPA’s Chandler von Shrader after he got the news of the merger between these two leaders in Home Performance.

Aeroseal’s acquisition of Comfort Institute was officially announced a few weeks ago and the buzz it’s creating is understandable. First, this starts a new chapter for Aeroseal as the company firmly puts a stake in the ground as to their intentions to play a leading role in the home performance market. It also immediately creates the HVAC industry’s most complete and authoritative outlet for home performance training and ongoing professional support.

For those unfamiliar with either company, let’s put this into mathematical terms:

Aeroseal (critical proprietary Home Performance technology) + Comfort Institute (unparalleled training, equipment and support for Home Performance Contractors) =  one source for HVAC success in the emerging home performance market.

For current CI members and HVAC contractors in general, this acquisition means easier access to complete Home Performance training and product innovations, greater resources for member services, and greater networking opportunities. For Aeroseal dealers, their new connection to CI will afford better opportunities for acquiring additional profit-generating skills as well as easier access to potential new customers.

And for homeowners, this means that, more than ever, Aeroseal dealers and CI members will be the most likely experts to provide the highest level of service and skilled expertise when it comes to lowering utility bills, increasing room-to-room comfort or improving indoor air quality.

CI has already moved its facilities to Aeroseal’s Centerville, Ohio location. This includes its main facility, warehouse and offices. The Comfort Institute name will continue and several key CI figures will remain in their current positions.

“I can attribute a large part of our success in Home Performance to the combination of our Aeroseal dealership and our CI membership,” said Steve Schmidt, president of Frederick Air Inc., and national board member of ACCA. “No doubt, greater contractor success and remarkable customer satisfaction is on the horizon.”
