SUMMARY:

The Energy Auditor is responsible for conducting comprehensive energy audits of residential dwellings to address and ultimately reduce customer's heating fuel, base-load electric usage and air conditioning usage. This position is also responsible for: conducting field data collection, providing energy usage analysis, preparing audit reports containing recommended scope of work for energy efficiency improvements, refrigerator testing for replacement and collecting data for replacement of window air conditioners and dehumidifiers.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

 

  1. Perform combustion testing to identify possible health and safety issues.
  2. Conduct detailed energy audits and assessments in addition to customer interviews and education sessions.  
  3. Quantify energy consumption to establish baselines for energy use and need to identify and prioritize energy saving measures.   
  4. Prepare audit reports containing energy analysis results and recommendations for energy cost savings.  
  5. Collect and analyze field data related to energy usage. 
  6. Inspect or evaluate buildings, mechanical systems and electrical systems to determine the energy consumption of each system.  
  7. Perform carbon monoxide, comprehensive combustion and appliance efficiency testing.
  8. Educate customers on energy efficiency or answer questions on topics such as the costs of running household appliances and the selection of energy efficient appliances.  
  9. Identify potential energy conservation measures, saving potential and Recommend energy efficient technologies or alternate energy sources. 
  10. Conduct work in compliance with OSHA and CMC safety procedures as directed by supervisor.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. BPI Building Analyst Certification required.
  2. 2-5 years’ experience in the energy industry preferred.
  3. Basic knowledge of the construction of residential dwellings and housing types, basic computer skills, ability to work with basic tools.
  4. Must have the ability to work independently.
