Gas fired DHW.  This is the attic floor, and the pilot assembly is at eye level in a kitchen cabinet. Below is the top, note the flue!

In my client interviews, I used to ask homeowners how often they changed their air filters. Now I ask them if they know where their air filter is. This is the worst I've seen. I should have framed it.

Photos of some creative contractor's work... This is why we need technically skilled QA and QC technicians to check work performed by "weatherization" contractors - and to essentially re-audit for missed opportunities and missed safety and health violations that could be addressed in our programs.
