The Standard Practice for Basic Analysis of Buildings defines the minimum criteria and specific procedures for building science-based residential energy audits and related diagnostic tests. The energy audit and related tests address energy usage, and limited aspects of building durability and occupant health and safety. The energy audit provides a comprehensive report with a list of prioritized recommendations to improve the home, and includes a cost-benefit analysis.

 

"ANSI/BPI-1200 defines step by step best practices for a comprehensive energy audit, while allowing energy auditors flexibility to provide appropriate recommendations to their customers, flexibility not found in the current Building Analyst standard," says Larry Zarker, BPI CEO.
