Cooling His Room With a Big Refrigerator - What is Wrong with That?

It was very hot this July 4th for Peter when his room AC broke down.  Nothing taste better than a cold beer from the refrigerator.

The cool air from the fridge gave Peter a COOL idea.  He sealed the whole room tight and kept the big fridge door wide open.

After an initial relief feeling, the room reached cooking temperature.

Could anybody tell Peter what is wrong?

       Happy July 4th,

Simple, the heat from the back/bottom of the fridge heated up the room.

You can't "make cold", only move heat. Unless the condenser coil is outside of the room it will never work.

Very good.  Why the room got hot?

More heat comes out of the back/bottom than cooling comes out the front.

Oh please - that's a classic college-level thermodynamics question!

That might be marginally effective if Peter shoved the fridge into an exterior doorway such that the hot coils were outside the room and airsealed the remaining gaps.

You are right!

Here are some more challenging questions. They may not be challenge enough for you, but your answers may help others. Thanks,  Perry
