Event Description

This presentation will include a demonstration of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's (NREL) free online PVWatts tool for estimating the production of a photovoltaic system with a discussion of the solar resource data it uses from the National Solar Radiation Database (NSRDB) and how it fits in with other free NREL tools for analyzing photovoltaic systems and projects. This presentation is for people who want to learn about PVWatts capabilities and limitations who have a basic understanding of how photovoltaic systems work.

Continuing Education Units (CEUS) 1 hour in

Green Building Certificate Institute (GBCI)
Building Performance Institute (BPI) NonWholeHouse
American Institute of Architects - AIA (HSW)
Certified Green Professional (NARI & CGP)
Certified GreenHome Professional (CGHP)
AIBD

State Architect / Builder License may be applicable

Lessons Learned

Describe the purpose of different NREL tools for analyzing photovoltaic systems and projects.
Estimate the monthly electricity output of a photovoltaic system.
Describe how PVWatts uses weather data from the National Solar Radiation Database.
Choose the appropriate NREL tool for photovoltaic system modeling.

Session sponsor:
